About Us

Waypoint...a significant point on a journey; a point where a traveler can change course; a point between major points on a route.

...as Randy and I navigate our way to a commercially viable alpaca herd we know that we must plan on certain waypoints to keep us on track. The first five to seven years we focused on consistency and longevity of fineness. To accomplish this ,we bought a handsome herdsire  from Snowmass, “Messiah’s Legacy (Mr. XX) plus a few new females that we were sure would help in our journey. Next came a goal of reducing our problem with guard hair. We were lucky to partner with Aspen Alpacas and purchase a sweet herdsire from Silver Rose Alpacas of California "Overture". With Him we added some additional punches of genetic power with a few additional females to the herd. During this period of time the mixing of genetics greatly moved our herd toward some of our goals. The last few years we have infused some outside herdsires which again have given us new genetic strings but tied together both our goal of fineness as well as fortify our reduction in guard hair and consistency of traits across the board.

The 2020 goal and "waypoint" continued to  bring consistency of fiber characteristics up through the blanket and into the chest of our new crias as well as consistence of body type in our new crias. We have made a few changes in nutrition and will start looking for new genetics to infuse into our program through an additional herdsire since most of our boys carry Overture genetics. Overture has moved back to California.

Please join us on this journey. One of the most pleasurable aspects of owning alpacas is watching the evolution of our herd. There is always a new puzzle piece to add.

Here it is the end of 2021 and like all alpaca breeders around the world we eagerly await our first cria for the new year "2022". As mentioned before, as breeders, we add and subtract puzzle pieces in our genetic profiles to adjust our genetic course and improvement of our herds. We will be doing just that this coming spring and summer as we aquired a new white herdsire "Xanadu's Luminary"; will introduce a mixed bag of our genetics and some from Amber Autumn's Moonlight. in our jr. herdsire Waypoint's Maestro and a co-owned  dark male Renegade of Waypoint. Our waypoints to meet are consistency of character and  conformational style. Wish us luck and follow us as we continue to cruise forward in our breeding decisions.

Randy and I have owned alpacas for 16 years.  Randy is owner and president of Honeybear Tree Fruit Co. This is his passion as much as the alpacas are mine. We both have a background in agriculture which has helped us in all of our farming adventures which include not only our sales and marketing company but also apple orchards, and now hay fields and alpacas.

There is no better lifestyle than farming. We feel God has richly blessed us, allowing us to live in a beautiful area with such captivating animals. You are always welcome to join me for a cup of tea to talk about alpacas and enjoy a tour of our farm.
